MAIZE, Kan. -

An alert neighbor is credited with foiling a burglary at a grain elevator in Maize.

Police Lt. Craig Brasser said officers responded early Thursday morning to a suspicious character call. He said the officer stumbled over a woman dressed in all black lying in the grass near the building. A man was arrested a short time later.

Lt. Brasser said the 21 year-old man was being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of burglary, theft, and contributing to child misconduct. The 16 year-old girl was taken to Juvenile Intake Assessment Center. The owner got his property back.
