ANDOVER, Kan. -

With severe weather possible in Kansas Saturday, many in Andover remember how quickly things can change.

On this date,  23 years ago, the Andover Tornado ripped through town, damaging homes and buildings and leaving 17 dead.

The F5 tornado was just one of 55 other tornadoes that hit the Great Plains region April 26, 1991.

Butler County emergency teams took time today to not only remember those lost, but to train to better save people in the future.

Andy Hall, emergency preparedness team member, said the training is a real reminder of what happened 23 years ago when the Andover tornado tore through the city, leaving death and destruction in its wake.

The memory of that day is with many of these responders as they work through the damage. It's a coordinated effort with multiple teams responding.
