KINGMAN, Kan. -

Portions of Main street in Kingman will remain closed through Thursday after a building collapsed.

The corner of a privately-owned building in the 100 block of North Main collapsed July 24. No one was hurt.

Officials put up barricades to help keep people out of the area. More onlookers were in town because the collapse happened during the Kingman County Fair.

Residents told Eyewitness New the building had been deteriorating. But the building was not condemed.

Emily Graph, Kingman City manager, said the city had the building checked for asbestos before final demolition. None has been found. The city is currently looking for a contractor to tear the building down.
