Update: Wichita police have identified a man killed in a crash Wednesday afternoon.
Police say 55-year-old Kevin Donn was a passenger in the car when it crashed into a tree on N. Jackson.
The 56-year-old driver was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Witnesses tell police the driver was likely traveling between 50 to 70 mph seconds before the crash.
Lt. Todd Ojile, Wichita Police, said emergency crews could smell alcohol at the scene, and there was evidence of alcohol at the scene.
One person has died, another has been taken to the hospital after an accident in north Wichita.
Crews were called to the scene in the 2200 block of north Jackson around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find two people inside a car that crashed into a tree. The driver and passenger were pinned inside. One person died at the scene, the other was hospitalized.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No names have been released.
