A Kansas police officer went above and beyond "to serve and protect" to help kids with cancer.
Officer Trisha Willis, Derby Police, shaved her head Saturday to raise money for children's cancer research. She said she was motivated because her friend's son lost his battle with cancer last month.
She challenged the community to raise money for cancer research, and promised to shave her head if the challenge was met.
"It feels so good to give back to someone who isn't as fortunate as me, who has health problems," Willis said. "We're so fortunate to have children that are healthy, so that was kind of the motivation for me. I do have a child who's healthy and I am so thankful for that."
She raised $5,600 for St. Baldrick's foundation, a nationwide charity that helps fund cancer research.
