WICHITA, Kan. -

Several groups are coming together to help the more than 500 people in Wichita who are homeless.

It's a program called "Bags of Blessings" and the goal is to make sure the homeless have items they need to stay healthy and warm.

Today, from 8:00 until noon and 5:30 to 9:00 pm,, organizers will collect donations at St. John's Episcopal Church at 402 N. Topeka.

They're looking for things like soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, comb, Chap Stick, toothpaste/toothbrush, nail clippers, razor, shaving cream, Kleenex, wash cloths. They'll also take donations of socks, knit caps and gloves.

Those items are then packed into gallon-sized Ziplock bags and donated.

Last year, Bags of Blessings gathered 1600 bags of personal care and hygiene items for the homeless.
