SALINA, Kan. -

An Ellsworth man appears to be on the road to recovery after car accident.

The crash happened about 6:40 Friday evening on Kansas Highway 140 about one and a half miles west of Brookfield Road. Saline County Sheriff's Captain Roger Soldan believes the crash was alcohol related.

Soldan said 68 year-old James Kenneth Brown's 1997 Chrysler Sebring left the roadway went back across both lanes of traffic, then became airborne, after striking the entrance to a field before hitting the trees.

Brown was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition, but has since improved to serious. The sheriff's office had received a report of a car swerving before the crash.
