WICHITA, Kan. -

A toddler is expected to be okay after being rescued from a hot car.

A parent called 911 to report their 2-year-old child was accidentally locked in a car near the Twin Lakes shopping center, 21st and Amidon, around 7:30 p.m. Monday. The car was not running, and the air conditioner was not on.

Wichita Police arrived and were able to safely get the child out of the car after breaking a window. The temperature at the time was 97 degrees. The girl was in the car for about eight minutes, police said.

The girl was conscious and breathing on her own, and did not require treatment at a hospital.

The case will be investigated my the Exploited and Missing Child's Unit.
