A woman who was married to a man accused of trying to bomb a Wichita airport said she does not recognize this man.
Terry Lee Loewen, 58, who worked at the Hawker Beechcraft Services facility at Mid-Continent Airport, is alleged to have spent months developing a plan to use his airport access card to drive a van loaded with explosives to the terminal. He planned to pull the trigger on the explosives himself and die in the explosion. He was charged in the terrorist plot Friday.
His ex-wife, Sarah Loewen, said Federal Bureau of Investigation agents came to her door Friday morning, questioning her about her ex-husband. The two had been divorced for more than 20 years, and have had little contact.
"I just am kind of numb to the idea because i never would have suspected that of him," she said.
The two have a 24-year-old son together. Sarah said she is having a hard time believing the news about her son's father.
"He's always known his father to be loving," she said, "this is not the man that he knew and loved."
Now, she said, her son is her only priority.
