I must say I’m impressed, halfway through the challenge and I’m not a crazy person yet! The mornings are the toughest part of my day especially on a Friday. I want to celebrate my week with a muffin or other pastry loaded with sugar but alas I can’t. Instead I’m going to bake this weekend using my sugar substitute. Baking or cooking it myself is the only way to ensure I’m sticking to the challenge. I was going to pick up a salad for lunch but most of the salad dressings I like contain added sugar – boo.
Did you know earlier this year The World Health Organization dropped its sugar intake recommendations from 10 percent of your daily calorie intake to 5 percent? For an adult of a normal body mass index (BMI), that works out to about 6 teaspoons -- or 25 grams -- of sugar per day. Think about it.
As I head into my weekend I still have more energy and feel less bloated which is a good enough reason for me to continue reducing my sugar intake even after the Fed Up Challenge is over. Thanks again for all your comments and feedback, it’s very encouraging. We only get one body and one life so a few sacrifices to make it go a little further may not be a bad idea.
