BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. -

Firefighters made quick work of a fire that broke out in a rural Butler County home.

It happened in the 5100 block of SW Santa Fe Lake road around 9 p.m. Sunday.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames showing from the home. One person was inside at the time, but managed to escape.

Investigators said a person was painting a room on the second floor, and one of the materials next to a work light caught fire. The damage was contained to the room.

A damage estimate has not been released.
