DERBY, Kan. -

UPDATE: An electrical problem may be to blame for a house fire in Derby. Crews were called to the 500 block of South Bucker just before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

A man was next door with his parents, who own the home, when he heard sirens and then ran into the house.

The man rescued three dogs and jumped out of a window to escape. He was taken to hospital with minor smoke inhalation.

The fire chief called the home a total loss.

Investigators are searching for a cause after a fire broke out in a south Derby home.

It happened in the 500 block of S. Bucker just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. One person was treated for a minor injury and smoke inhalation.

Investigators said the home is a total loss.
