WICHITA, Kan. -

Several roads were blocked off for a short time Friday because of a house fire in the northeast part of Wichita.

It happened a little after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Hillside and 15th street. Crews arrived to smoke and flames coming from the front of the house.

Ernie Schuler, Btl. Chief for the Wichita Fire Department says it was an unoccupied house, so no one was home at the time.

"It's unoccupied...that always makes it suspicious until the investigator nails down what caused it," Schuler said.

Investigators have not determined what caused the fire yet. They estimate there is around $30,000 to the structure and another $3,000 to the contents of the home.
