Fire inside a trucking company did significant damage Monday night.
The fire broke out at Price Truck Lines, Inc, located at 4931 South Victoria about 7:22 p.m. That's near 47th Street South and Hydraulic. Crews had to force their way inside to get at the fire.
The Hazardous Materials team also responded to scene to check acetylene and propane tanks inside. Deputy Fire Chief Tammy Snow said the fire had been burning for a while inside the engine of a semi-truck.
The fire spread from the semi through insulation on the roof, which created heavy black smoke. The building was locked. No one was inside when fire started. Chief Snow said the smoke was due to fiberglass and insulation in the building.
A fire investigator said $300,000 damage was done to the contents and building. He said there were 12 to 15 semi's lined up inside the building. The official cause of the fire remains under investigation. A company spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
