Former Congressman Todd Tiahrt announced today his run for the 4th district he used to represent.
He made the announcement at the Kansas aviation museum, Thursday a little after 2 p.m. Tiahrt said that while he was in office, Kansas has strong aircraft companies and commented on the loss of aviation jobs since then.
Tiahrt held the seat from 1995 to 2011 when he decided to make a run for U.S. Senate, and was defeated by Jerry Moran.
The seat for the 4th District in south-central Kansas is now by Republican Mike Pompeo, who already has filed for a third, two-year term.
Tiahrt says last September he started receiving calls asking him to run for office again and considered it, but didn't make the official announcement until today.
Congressman Pompeo released a statement on Tiahrt entering the primary. You can read that statement here.
