SALINA, Kan. -

A friend speaks out after a man is found guilty for a deadly hit and run near Salina last year.

Dennis Grider was found guilty of charges, including vehicular homicide, for hitting Gail Kline last year while she was riding her bike in a race. Grider said he thought he hit a deer, and it wasn't until later when he heard about the accident, that he thought it might have been him.

"She's missed, I mean she's missed by everyone that knew her," Bike Tek owner Shawn Jones said. "She was fun to be around; she had some energy and she was fun to be around and talk to."

A friend of Kline's family says the community has been supportive. Kline was part of a biking club, and an avid rider, and a friend says she is still greatly missed in the biking community.
