WICHITA, Kan. -

A series of grass fires broke out in Butler County Tuesday.

Firefighters said one of the fires threatened a house. Crews were called off a controlled burn to assist with the wildfire. Three wild land fires were bad enough, but three fire trucks got stuck in the wet field.

Crews from Towanda responded to help put the fire out, while El Dorado Public Works came over with a loader to pull the trucks out of the field. No homes or property were damaged, other than a broom that lost some its bristles.

Firefighters in Chase, Reno, Harvey, Sumner and Sedgwick County were also kept busy with a series of grass fires throughout the day. So far, no injuries reported to residents or firefighters.
