HARVEY COUNTY, Kan. -

A Harvey county man has been arrested after his 8-month-old son died earlier this month after an accident in late May.

Rob Heironimus, 43, was booked on charges of aggravated child endangerment after an investigation into the baby's death.

According to the Harvey County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Heironimus was placed on a leather type couch while his father went to work on his motorcycle. Heironimus told police he had asked his 5-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son to watch the baby.

That's when Matthew got stuck face down between the couch and the cushion according to police.

Investigators say the baby was taken to the hospital not breathing and was later taken off of a ventilator where he died. They noted there was a play pen in the living room which would have been the proper place to put Matthew instead of the Leather type couch.

The two other children in the home have been placed with maternal grandparents.

Heironimus' Bond was set at $4,000. He was able to bond out of the Harvey County Detention Center. Formal charges have not been made through the Harvey County Attorney's office.
