WICHITA, Kan. -

Sunday's sunshine was not the weather event coordinators expected when they planned the 2014 Ice Bowl.

The disc golf tournament has been played in the winter for the past 25 years in Wichita. It's a test to show who is a "fair-weathered" player.

"It's an opportunity for us to show just how die-hard we are lovers of disc golf," said Jerry Sherwood, President of the Air Capitol Disc Golf Club. "Our motto is 'No Whimps No Whiners."

No one was complaining Sunday when the sunshine came out for the tournament.

"We've played in ice, we've played in snow this deep, we've played in blizzard conditions," said Sherwood. "So people here love the sport and they love giving back to the community."

There were 71 people who played in the tournament. All proceeds from today's event go to the Kansas Food Bank.
