Fire and explosions took place in an industrial building near the Sedgwick County Fair Grounds in Cheney.
It broke out about 7:30 Wednesday night. Heavy smoke could be seen throughout the night near Garfield and South Street. The fire was brought under control about two hours later. There were 55 gallon drums of thinner inside the building.
Cheney Fire Chief Brad Ewy said the woodworking shop to the back end will be a total loss, while the other end of the building contained converters and transmissions. No one was hurt. Fire crews will be on scene for most of the night.
A cause and damage estimate was not available at the scene. Several crews from Sedgwick County also responded to the scene. No one was hurt.
