WICHITA, Kan. -

A Sedgwick County jail deputy was arrested Tuesday night for shoplifting from Walmart.

Lt. David Mattingly, with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office, said Wichita police were called to the 21st & Maize store around 9:30 p.m. to investigate the crime.

The deputy was not booked into jail, but has been issued a notice to appear in court on petty theft charges.

The deputy was employed with the jail for less than a year. As of Wednesday morning, the deputy is no longer employed with the Sheriff’s Office.
