A Fort Scott Community College student has died after violent severe storms broke out across the midwest Sunday, KOAM reports.

According to the Sheriff's Office in Jackson County, Michigan, Ryan Rickman, 21 of Dewey, Oklahoma, was killed when a large tree fell due to heavy winds. The tree struck Rickman's vehicle and immediately crushed him. Rickman died at the scene.

Rickman graduated from high school in 2011, was an Agriculture Major at FSCC and a bareback rider for the FSCC Rodeo Team. The rodeo team says it is too early to talk about their loss.

"That rodeo team, they're just so closely knit, from what I see," FSCC instructor Ryan Edgecomb told KOAM. "They do kind of treat each other like family and keep God very high in their priorities and believe in Him and trust in Him and understand that he knows what he's doing".

Professors say the college's arena will fill up again, but Ryan Rickman will always be missed. No funeral or memorial arrangements have been announced.
