Wichita police have released the names of the two people killed in an overnight motorcycle accident on Seneca, near Kellogg.

They say Matthew Tanges, 26, was driving the bike and Angela Waston, 26, was riding.

Police say the pair was thrown from the motorcycle after hitting a car driven by a 25-year-old man. The driver of the car was not hurt.

Originally, police had received information that the pair may have been linked to a burglary in progress call in 1100 block of S. Elizabeth. Further investigation revealed they were helping family members move, but police say the motorcycle they were riding was stolen.

"Best we can tell right now, the motorcycle was stolen and that's why they were fleeing the officer, or the deputy," said Wichita Police Lt. Todd Ojile.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone that may have witnessed this crash to please call Sheriff Investigations at 660-5300.

Wichita police are investigating after an overnight crash leaves two people dead. It happened along Seneca near Kellogg at around 11:50 pm Sunday.

Police say a car collided with a motorcycle that was speeding in the area. The two people who were on the motorcycle, a male and a female, were taken to the hospital. Both were pronounced dead a short time later.

No one in the car was hurt.

Police are checking into whether the crash is connected to a burglary in progress call to 911 a short time before the crash.

The caller reported two possible suspects at a burglary in the 1100 block of S. Elizabeth left on a motorcycle at a high rate of speed.

A Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputy saw a motorcycle speeding in that area and turned around to check out the situation. The deputy was trying to find that motorcycle when he came upon the crash scene.
