The world's largest snack maker is expanding its potato chip line, rolling out a chocolate-covered chip for the holidays.

Lay's said on Friday the company's wavy potato chip will available as a dipped chocolate chip, starting next week.

USA Today reports a 5-ounce bag will sell for $3.49. The chocolate-dipped chips will be sold only at Target stores.

Ram Krishnan, vice president of marketing at Frito-Lay, told USA Today the initial test is for limited-time-only. But if the chip is a major hit, it could ultimately become permanent.

"When you try something drastically different, you have to walk before you can run," says Krishnan. "We wanted to test our way through this before we go big."

Krishnan said the snack aims to please the consumer with sweet and salty taste buds.
