A large number of campers turned out Thursday morning to depart for Heather's Camp located Rock Springs 4-H camp near Junction City.

"We had a great morning and the kids are excited to start their week," said a representative of Envision, the presenting sponsor of Heather's Camp.

Through Sunday, campers will do several activities including horseback riding, archery, swimming and canoeing. All of this will take place with trained volunteers.

"It was great to watch many of the return campers greet each other for another year of camp."

The camp began in 2001 with only 20 campers and now has grown to include over 90 campers this year.

Heather's Camp was created in the memory of Heather Mueller, a victim of a 2000 quadruple homicide in Wichita.
