SALINA, Kan. -

A man accused of stealing dozens of guns from a Salina sporting goods store is facing additional charges.

The Salina Journal reports Matthew D. Hewitt, 32, is accused of 16 counts of forgery, 16 counts of criminal use of a financial card, one count of attempted use of a financial card and one count of felony theft in connection with the use of credit cards stolen from a residence in the 300 block of North Kansas Avenue on April 1.

Hewitt is accused of using the credit cards at 16 Salina businesses and charging a total of $939.30 on April 1, said Capt. Mike Sweeney of the Salina Police Department.

Hewitt already was in Saline County Jail in connection with an April 14 burglary and theft of guns from Cleve's Marine and Sporting Goods, 136 S. Broadway.
