A man pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated battery in the traffic death of a 89-year-old Wichita woman Thursday afternoon.

The district attorney's office says Matthew Mabry, 35, of El Dorado, was driving a pickup on June 24, 2013, when he crossed the center line on Central at Dougherty in west Wichita and struck a lawn equipment trailer being pulled by another pickup. The trailer then struck an older model Plymouth driven by Arlene Root. Root died at the scene. The driver of the other pickup was hurt.

Mabry also pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary and three counts of theft in a second case on August 1. He admitted to stealing three pickup trucks, a trailer and other items including a mountain bike and wheel lock sets from businesses on E. Kellogg in 2013.

Mabry is set to be sentenced on August 29th.
