WICHITA, Kan. -

Federal prosecutors have charged a Lawrence man with robbing a west Wichita bank.

It happened at the Bank of America, near 21st and Ridge Road., around 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Prosecutors said Matthew Greenlee, 25, was into the business, gave the teller a note, demanding money. The note ended with "thxs and plz."

Greenlee took the money and ran away.

Police released a surveillance picture about an hour after the robbery.

Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police, said the suspect was identified after a family member saw the surveillance picture on the news. The U.S. Attorney's office said investigators were still at the bank when the suspect returned with his father and surrendered less than two hours later.

If convicted, Greenlee faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
