HAVEN, Kan. -

Reno County authorities have arrested a driver who fled the scene of a rollover crash early this morning.

It happened shortly after midnight at K-96 and Haven Road. A passerby called emergency crews after seeing the vehicle, which had flipped at least one time.

According to Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson, the driver was able to get out of the vehicle and told those who had stopped to help him that he "was not going to jail". He then jumped over a fence and took off into a field.

Eyewitnesses told deputies that he had a laceration on his forehead and he was bleeding as he left the scene.

Sheriff Henderson says the 2004 blue Chevy Trailblazer apparently left the roadway into the ditch, overturned and came to rest on the drivers side of the vehicle. The SUV needed to be towed from the area.

55 year-old Michael Hansen of Hutchinson was found a short time later. He had a minor cut to the head and refused medical treatment. Hansen faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an injury accident.
