WICHITA, Kan. -

A judge sentenced one of two men charged in the death of Carl Cooper to life in prison Wednesday morning.

Kyle Carter was also sentenced to 10 years with the Kansas Department of Corrections for a parole violation.

Carter was convicted for the deadly stabbing of Cooper in April.

He and co-defendant, Trenton Custer, told Wichita police they saw Cooper breaking into their friend's car.

Prosecutors say the two men chased Cooper and stabbed him several times.

Custer is set for trial in July.
