WICHITA, Kan. -

A Wichita man accused of killing an 8-year-old when a stray bullet hit her mobile home last year will spend 22 years in prison.

Zachary Gaston faced an emotional courtroom in Sedgwick County District Court Thursday. He pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless murder in October.

Moore was asleep in bed with two younger siblings when a bullet went through her wall and struck her in the head in Sept. 2012.   Police said gaston was firing at a car that left an early morning dispute.

Gaston told the courtroom he thinks about what happens every day, and wishes he could change it.

"I'm sorry," he said. "Nothing I say, nothing I do right now can change anything I've done. I'd give my own life right now to do anything i could."

Moore's mom also spoke at the sentencing. Through tears, she said she forgave Gaston for killing her daughter. She also added that she hoped he changes.

The sentence also included charges for aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm.
