With the start of summer Saturday, you might be thinking about heading to the lake. But some lakes across the state are under a blue-green algae warning.

Marion Reservoir, Memorial Park Lake and South Park Lake are all included. What the warning means is that water conditions are unsafe and direct contact with it can cause health risks.

There are four other lakes under advisory status; Logan City lake, Milford lake, Warnock lake and Old Herington lake.

In these lakes, activities like boating and fishing are most likely safe, but contact with water is still strongly discouraged.

If you do go fishing, be sure to clean anything you catch before you eat it, and remember to keep an eye on pets. Blue-green algae is dangerous to their health.
