McPherson, Kan. -

A large brush fire took firefighters most of the day to bring under control.

The fire  broke out Thursday afternoon near Pioneer Road and 14th Avenue. Its near the McPherson Country Club. County Fire Department Captain Chris Biehler said a small brush pile fire spread to several large pine trees, 2 sheds and a house.

Captain Biehler said there were several horses in the area that were moved away from the flames. The fire did consume motorcycles that were left in the outbuildings.  A damage estimate has not yet been determined.

Crews from McPherson, Galva, Lindsborg, Inman and Marquette responded to the scene. Biehler said the McPherson County Attorney will review the case. A burn ban was not in effect in McPherson County at the time of the brush fire.
