Tuesday update: A Celebration Service for Douglas Douthit will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 12 at NewSpring Church. 

According to an OB-GYN website, the family has requested that in Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to Justice For All (a pro-life organization), 113 North Martinson, Wichita, KS  67203 or Choices Medical Clinic, 538 South Bleckley Drive, Wichita, KS  67218.

Dr. Douthit was received into Heaven on December 5, 2013.  He was a talented physician, devoted father and husband, and a dear friend to us all.  He was a man of great wisdom and gentle wit.  He will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.  We know that he knew Jesus and he is now experiencing the eternal joy that we have been promised.

A well-known Wichita OB-GYN has died.

A spokeswoman for Dr. Douglas Douthit's office confirmed he died Thursday. Details of his death have not been released.

Douthit, 59, had been in practice since 1980. His office with Wichita OB-GYN Associates sat in the Health Strategies Plaza, 551 N Hillside St. According to his website, he has served on the Home Health Care Committee and the Pharmacy Committee at Wesley Medical Center as well as the Library Committee at University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita.  

The KU Wichita campus issued a statement saying:

"Dr. Douthit was a physician, teacher, mentor, and colleague. The KU School of Medicine-Wichita and our students are better because of his work and his many contributions. We will miss him, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones."
