WICHITA, Kan. -

The number of Kansans who have died from the flu has more than doubled in the past 10 days.

Statewide, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports 11 deaths directly linked to the flu. This is up from the 4 deaths that were reported as of Jan. 21.

According to the KDHE, when you add in contributing factors like pneumonia, the number of statewide deaths jumps to 619.

While the flu usually peaks in February, these numbers show an already aggressive flu season. Health officials say there is still time to get vaccinated.
