GYPSUM, Kan. -

People in Gypsum and the surrounding community have a new place for lunch. Exit 14 began serving up burgers and fries at the beginning of the year.

Gypsum native Alex Weller opened the restaurant. He was just 20 when it first opened, and wasn't even allowed to serve beer.

"In college, all of my buddies thought I was a good cook," Weller said. "I just decided to open up a restaurant."

His restaurant is the only one open during the week in Gypsum giving the community a convenient place for lunch.

"You see people stopping here all day long, trying to get in to get something to eat." Mayor Gary Bickel said.

Weller says business had been increasing since it opened.

"I thought the beginning would be my biggest weeks, but my numbers are still growing," Weller said

The restaurant is opened from 11-2pm Tuesday through Saturday and for dinner on Friday and Saturday.
