EUREKA, Kan. -

UPDATE: Prosecutors in Greenwood County have charged 19-year-old Gabriel Mefford with one count of first degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm in a deadly shooting Friday morning.

Authorities say deputies arrested Gabriel Mefford around 4:00 Friday morning at a Eureka home. He is charged with killing 25-year-old Michael Mefford earlier that morning.

The Greenwood County sheriff did not say how the two men were related. Both the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office and the KBI continue to investigate the shooting.

Greenwood County authorities have one person in custody after a deadly overnight shooting.

Dispatchers said emergency crews were called to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of N. Oak in Eureka shortly after 3 a.m. Friday.

When crews arrived at the home, they found 25-year-old Michael Mefford dead.

A short time later, a man was taken into custody by Greenwood County Deputies.

The news comes just two weeks after a triple shooting that left two people dead, and a massive manhunt for the killer. Neighbors said life was just starting to return back to normal.

"Now that this has happened, I'm sure we probably won't see kids out a whole lot, " said William Shaw.

Sheriff Rusty Bitler said the department has been working around the clock.

"We're here and I just want to let the folks know we're doing everything we can," Bitler said. He is not releasing the name of the suspect because no formal charges have been filed.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case.
