WICHITA, Kan. -

An overnight shooting in northwest Wichita leaves one man in the hospital after he suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

The call came in at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the 1500 block of north Pinecrest after a caller reported hearing gunshots and people running around outside the house.

There, they identified four victims in the case. Two of those victims lived in the house next door to where the gunshots were reported. Several bullets had been fired through that neighboring house, missing the two sleeping victims inside.

A third victim was believed to have also been on the block at the time of the shooting, but was not injured.

A fourth victim, a 20-year-old black  male, was also found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. He was the only person to suffer injuries.

"They contacted the 20-year-old black male inside a residence at 1506 N. Pinecrest with a single gunshot wound to his left thigh," said Sgt. Ed Brower with the Wichita Police Department.

The man who was shot was taken to Wesley Medical Center with serious injuries but was listed in stable condition.

As police investigated, they found several bullet casings in the street and stray bullet strikes in the neighboring house. No suspect has been listed.
