LEON, Kan. -

A Pit Bull rescued by a Butler County animal refuge is doing much better. That's according to those who work with "Champ."

When he came to Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge in June, he was emaciated and covered with sores. He only weighed 39.5 lbs. Now, the refuge says "Champ" weighs 71 lbs.

Authorities believe "Champ" was a victim of abuse. Anyone who knows where he came from is asked to call the Sedgwick County Animal Control at 316-660-7070.
