SALINA, Kan. -

Saline Police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting that sent another man to the hospital.

Officers responded to the scene in the 800 block of North 2nd St. around 12:30 p.m. Monday. They arrived to find a 20-year-old man suffering from two gunshot wounds to the stomach. The man was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment, but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police were able to locate a suspect a short time after the incident. He was at a home a few blocks away, police said. Officers also recovered a gun belonging to the owner nearby.

Raymond Isom, 34, was booked in to the Saline County jail on attempted murder charges. The cause leading up to the shooting remains under investigation.


Salina Police responded to a shooting at an apartment on 2nd and Pacific just after noon on Monday. Police said they got a call that a man had been shot.

Police said when they arrived they found one man with a gunshot wound, he was taken to Salina Regional Health Center.

A man who lived at the apartment said he and some friends were inside when a group of people were walking towards the apartment. The man who lived in the residence says he then went to get up and shut the door when it was too late, his friend had already been shot.

Captain Michael Sweeney says the man has non-life threatening injuries.

Several law enforcement agencies responded to the call and were watching intersections in the neighborhood. Police say they found the suspect just a few minutes after the shooting but they are still investigating and looking for other suspects.
