Wichita police are warning of several scams targeting elderly members of our community.
In one of the most recent cases, a woman received a phone call from someone claming to be with law enforcement. She asked her about her address and said that she would be getting a packet in the mail.
She told the caller that she would not buy anything and she didn't provide any type of financial information to the caller, so she's not out any money.
Police want people to be very cautious about giving any information out over the phone. Police ask residents to report calls of this nature so they can follow up and keep track.
Police say the cases are hard to prosecute because many callers are outside the United States.
