WICHITA, Kan. -

The Kansas House GOP announced today Representative Jan Pauls will be switching parties from Democrat to Republican.

The Republican House Caucus will now have 93 members, which they say is the largest in Kansas history.

Pauls cited what she calls Democratic hostility to her opposition to abortion and gay rights according to the Associated Press.

In 2012 Pauls moved into an old church she owned, so she could stay in House District 102. Her former home was a few miles away, but redistricting put it outside her old district by a few blocks.

The Kansas Equality Coalition objected to the move, but the objection was struck down by the state board.

Pauls is known for considering herself as a "conservative democrat."
