A Salina man has been sentenced to life in prison after admitting to fatally beating a woman with a heavy chain dog collar according to our news partners at the Salina Journal.
Joe Heil, 26, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in connection to Kristen Tyler's death last April.
He was one of three defendants charged in the case. Heil will serve a minimum of 25 years for the murder of Tyler and 2 years and 8 months for an unrelated attempted robbery charge.
The Salina Journal says both of Heil's sentences will be served at the same time, after he completes a sentence for aggravated assault he was on probation for at the time of the murder.
