DERBY, Kan. -

There have been reports of a scam in Derby targeting senior citizens. Someone impersonating a Derby Senior Center employee is calling seniors and asking for money over the telephone.

"It's important never to give out personal information or credit card information over the telephone to someone you don't know, even if they sound legitimate," said Chief Robert Lee, Derby Police Department.

If you receive a call like this, hang up and call 911 immediately to make a report. If you have caller ID, write down the number the call came from and give it to the dispatcher.
