The National Fastpitch Coaces Association has named Cacy Williams to the NFCA Division I All-Midwest Region first-team and Brittany Fortner to the second-team, it was announced today.

For their impressive performances on the field of play this season, 392 players from 158 different programs were chosen to the 2014 NFCA Division I All-Region squads.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2014 NFCA Division I All-American teams.

Williams finished the season with a .424 batting average, which is the 33rd best in Division I Softball. In NCAA rankings, her slugging percentage ranks her 15th, her home runs at 22nd. The sophomore had a .532 on base percentage, good for 20th and currently ranks 74th in walks. During the season, she had 301 putouts and 14 double plays.

The Platte City, Mo., native broke numerous school records in her first year in a Shocker uniform including: batting average (.424), slugging percentage (.812), on-base percentage (.531), total bases (138), runs scored (57), home runs (16) and RBIs (47).

Fortner finished her sophomore campaign with a .358 batting average, tying Williams with 14 doubles in 55 games. The Cedar Hill, Mo., native had 62 hits, eight home runs, 35 RBIs and 16 walks to go along with her .578 slugging and .422 on-base percentages. Fortner led the team with a perfect fielding percentage with 79 putouts and three assists on the season.

The sophomore outfielder tied the school record for highest stolen base percentage (6-for-6) and finished tied for seventh with the most doubles (14), just two shy of the school record. Fortner also tied the Wilkins Stadium record for runs scored in a game with three and home runs in a game with two, both against Missouri State on April 16, en route to a 12-0 victory over the Bears.

The 2014 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at Wednesday, May 28.
