HAYS, Kan. -

SkyWest has announced that it will be operating express flights between Hays, Kansas and Denver, Colorado.

The first flight is schedule to take off on August 1, using a 50-seat Bombardier-manufactured CRJ200 aircraft.

This comes after Great Lakes cancelled its contract with Hays Regional Airport effective March 31. Great Lakes was not chosen by the federal government to continue service at Hays Regional Airport.

"Having access to reliable, local air service is critical for the economic development of communities and we look forward to the start of these new United Express flights in Hays," Mike Thompson, SkyWest Airlines vice president marketing and development said.
