A convenience store owner has been arrested, accused of groping a customer.
A 28-year-old woman called police after she said the incident occurred at the Pump Mart convenience store, 1118 N. Ninth, Sunday.
The woman told police she went into the store Sunday and was talking to the the clerk, when he grabbed her breasts.
Rasikbhai Maganlal Mody, 60, was arrested on sexual battery charges.
Mody said that he had confronted the woman about money she owed him, and when she became upset, he comforted her. He said that if he touched her inappropriately, it was an accident.
Dozens of protestors lined up outside the gas station Wednesday night. Organizers said their goal was to raise awareness about the problems in Salina with sexual predators.
Vonda Hahne, organizer, said it's important to the community because there are so many children in the area.
"In the perfect world, he wouldn't even be free," she said. "He offended twice and walked out on a $500 bond."
There was another instance of sexual battery in the end of April as well, however Mody says he didn't go near the woman. Mody has been convicted of both sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery in connection with similar incidents.
If Mody is convicted of either of the recent charges, he could go on probation and could not be able to operate his store alone.
