WICHITA, Kan. -

After sleet and snow overnight, Wichita plows are out Sunday morning treating the roads.

Van Williams, spokesperson for the city, said the plows are raised on the trucks to make for quicker road treatment. It will then take plows eight hours to pass through all 1,500 miles of lanes on the primary routes. Also, there isn't enough snow accumulation to plow overnight, but they expect that to change into Sunday.

Crews have been spreading salt and sand overnight and into Sunday morning. Plows will be lowered if needed later once heavier snow falls.

Wichita crews are at full capacity, meaning 50 trucks at all times are out treating roads.

Public Works and Utilities officials will be at Sunday's police briefing at noon. KWCH will have updates online and on air at that time.
