SALINA, Kan. -

A Salina man is arrested on Aggravated Battery and other charges after being found in a dog kennel.

It happened last night at around 5:30. Police were called to a report of a disturbance at a home. A woman says she was struck ten to twelve times in the face and knocked her unconscious.

She says she ran out of the house, but he dragged her back in. She was able to grab a knife and cut him on the arm, then he held a knife against her throat and threatened to cut her.

She dialed 911 and dispatchers heard the commotion and responded.

Police found the woman outside the home and went in to look for the man. They found him hiding inside a dog crate. Police say he then started fighting with officers and damaged a patrol car.

The 28-year-old was taken into custody and arrested on Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Threat, Obstruction, Criminal Restraint and Damage to Property charges.

The woman didn't need medical treatment. EMS checked the suspect out at the scene before he was taken to jail.
