BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. -

United Way of the Plains announced today they will be coordinating a volunteer effort to clean up debris from the Tornado in Baxter Springs.

The EF-2 tornado tore though the southeast Kansas town injuring 34 people and destroying multiple homes and businesses.

The United Way is responding to a request for help from the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.

The group plans to help locals clean up efficiently and speedily according to its director Mark Stump.

Individuals wishing to donate for the Baxter Springs tornado relief can make checks payable to United Way of the Plains with "Baxter Springs Tornado" in the memo line. Those checks can be mailed to United Way of the Plains at 245 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202
